Seattle Door Co. — A source of Kirkland pride
Our Lake Washington Belt Line feature lifts up the history of the many businesses served by the railroad in Kirkland beginning in 1905. A few have a special place in Kirkland history and in the hearts of long-time residents — and one of those is surely Seattle Door Co., aka SeDorCo.
We are very grateful to Kirkland Heritage Society member Don Winters and President Loita Hawkinson for recently connecting us to members of the Clyde MacDonald family, who generously shared one-of-a-kind photos and documents that have significantly enriched our SeDorCo story. Matt and I previously had no idea that SeDorCo was the subject of a 30-minute episode in the long-running “Success Story” series, sponsored by Richfield Oil, in July, 1958. You can read all about it in the SeDorCo section on the Feriton page of the LWBL feature. Enjoy!
